Seattle has one of the most diverse collections of street trees in the country, double the East Coast and triple the Midwest! Our city offers a splendid selection of trees that includes cherry trees that celebrate spring with gorgeous blossoms and immense western red cedars that provide vast resources to such an extent that it is called "The Tree of Life." With such an array, residents and visitors are left to wonder how they can explore the city and stand with trees across Seattle.
"Seattle's Coolest Street Tree Expert," author and illustrator Taha Ebrahimi is a passionate tree enthusiast and member of the Historic Seattle Council. Last year, Taha researched and created Street Trees of Seattle: An Illustrated Walking Guide. In it, Taha takes readers on a tour of existing street trees throughout Seattle's neighborhoods and iconic parks, accompanied by charming illustrations and maps. In the process, she educates readers on the history of the trees and the city, and offers up sketches of trees, leaves, and leaflets to identify trees throughout 33 different neighborhoods.
Join Seward Park Audubon for a special presentation with Taha Ebrahimi, who will share how Street Trees of Seattle came to life. Learn about her creative process and discover some of her favorite trees in the Seward Park area. Enjoy an engaging presentation followed by a Q&A and book signing with Taha. Copies of Street Trees of Seattle will be available for purchase at the event, and we'll have a hot biscuit waiting for you!
