Our Pacific temperate rainforest includes masses of ferns and lichens, hair-thin threads of fungi, and a watershed flushed with rain and snowmelt. This temperate rainforest faces a shifting climate and the shifting priorities of a constantly changing society.
Peg Herring is associate professor emerita of science communication at Oregon State University, where she continues to lead workshops to inspire people to experience the world through observation, art, and ecology.
Join us for our next Science, Nature, and a Biscuit program as Peg Herring shares insights from her book ‘Born of Fire and Rain’ and her experiences revealing secrets of our rainforest. She provides a glimpse behind the magnificent scenery into a forest of ancient trees, exploding mountains, disappearing owls, tsunamis, megafires, and ten million people to learn what it means to be a forest in a world of upheavals.
And, because it's Science, Nature and a Biscuit, tea and hot biscuits will be served with butter and jam.
