Meet the staff of the Audubon Center at Seward Park

Nick Dujnic, Senior Coordinator, Community Building
Virtuoso

I protect birds and the places they need to thrive by helping people of all experience levels discover just how wondrous birds really are. Whether I’m out on the trail with binoculars or helping with research at a banding station, my greatest joy comes from watching someone’s eyes light up when they learn something new that fills them with awe. That moment matters. The more you know about birds, the more you can’t help but love them—and the more you love them, the more you want to protect them. Sharing that spark of wonder is, I think, what I’m meant to do.

Brianna Klein, Manager, Public Programs
Visionary

I support birds and the places they depend on by creating welcoming, community-rooted experiences that invite people to slow down, listen, and enter into a relationship with the living world around them. My work is shaped by lineage, I come from generations of land stewards and fisherfolk in the Philippines, people who knew the tides, seasons, and winds by heart. Their reverence for water and place guides the way I move through the forest, the way I listen for birds, and the way I hold space for community. One of my deepest passions is supporting people in their re-membering to Land and Waters, helping them rebuild a relationship rooted in love, reciprocity, and curiosity. I believe that when people feel a sense of belonging with the natural world, they carry that relationship forward, becoming future protectors of the places and beings they’ve come to care for. I’m most alive when I’m outdoors with others, witnessing the spark that happens when someone hears a bird’s call or catches the bright flicker of a wing. Those moments of wonder, especially for communities that haven’t always been welcomed into outdoor spaces, are what root me. With a background in early childhood education, community engagement, and cultural connection, I hope to help people meet birds with joy and a deep sense of belonging to this Land and to one another.

Joseph Manson, Center Director
Inventor

I owe so much to this community. It is through creating programs that present opportunities to find joy in the natural world and supporting them in taking meaningful action to protect birds and the places they need to thrive, like Seward Park.

To me, sharing is the most rewarding aspect of my job. It’s not just telling them what I am hearing or seeing. It’s truly listening to what, and how, someone tells what nature has revealed to them, and receiving it with the same level of wonder and joy.

This park is special. It draws people here to look at birds, trees, and mountains, as well as lowriders, dance performances, and bike racers. We all have a place in Seward Park and in Audubon.

Gaby Rivarde, Manager, Youth Programs
Luminary

As an Indigenous woman, biologist and environmental educator, I am honored to serve as the Youth Programs Manager at Seward Park Audubon Center. My inspiration for this work is woven into my heritage; in my culture, birds are sacred messengers, carrying the wisdom and protection of our ancestors. Audubon’s mission to protect birds and the places they need is one I fully embody.

I see birds as the ultimate unifiers, their epic migrations crossing all borders, a journey that mirrors my own. My work is to help our youth hear the messages these winged messengers carry. In my programs, we move beyond simple stewardship to explore a deeper kinship. Together, we learn the Indigenous concepts of right relations and reciprocity, helping young people understand that by creating the conditions for birds to thrive, we create the conditions for all life, including our own, to flourish.

My journey is to ensure the wisdom of the birds resonates across cultures, building a community where every young person feels they belong to this world and are empowered to protect it.
