On a Universal Note- Songs of Levi
Wednesday, July 18
Free and open to the public
Join us for a musical performance by Levi Perez. Levi Perez is the pseudonym for Madrona artist, David Jeno. He has enjoyed creating music, art and continuing discussions about animals, the environment and the First People. Levi's pen and ink artwork is currently up in our Garry Oak Gallery and will adorn the walls during his performance.
Levi explains that his music states an incisive view on the victories and failures of the eco-culture, the first people's strife and a sensitivity toward the animals. His guitar work reflects a romanticism of pastoral landscapes and the myths that echo a simpler method of folk song and blues to tell a story. Influences stem from the likes of Dylan, Young and Guthrie and reflects a Laurel Canyon vibe of a bygone era. With a six string guitar and a harmonica, Levi's music is a straightforward, honest approach to begin with, so the music stays in that vein.
