Author, activist, and runner Alison Mariella Désir, hosts the Crosscut series Out & Back.  There she covers topics like the running boom, sundown towns, environmental racism, redlining, representation, and more. In each episode, Alison connects with people of color who enjoy experiences in the natural world in spaces where they traditionally have not been seen. 

This event will screen two short episodes of the program, and introduce you to a birder, a runner, a man who shares his experience in the Olympic National Forest, and a young man whose bird-inspired piano composition is ready for an audience. This event offers us the chance to live through their experiences, in a joyous, thoughtful, and community-building afternoon in Columbia City.
